DESCRIPTION:  \nWe are organising a Sports Diver open water training session at the Capernwray Dive Centre\, also known as Jackdaw Quarry. \nTo participate\, you must have completed a medical form and submitted it to our Branch Diving Officer before the event. If you fail to submit the form\, your instructor will not allow you to dive on the day. \nYou are required to have a current BSAC membership to take part in the training session. Additionally\, you must also join the Capernwray dive centre by registering online and choosing the 2-year diving option. This requires a fee of £30 for membership\, which will cover the cost of parking and the use of facilities such as W.C.\, showers\, and café facilities. Capernwray will charge you £16.00 each time you visit beyond this fee. Air fills are also available for £5.00 per fill. \nPlease bring your Cylinder & BCD SCUBA gear\, and if you do not own a dry suit\, you will either need to purchase or borrow one. Alternatively\, you can hire from either Capernwray Dive Centre or Bolton Area Divers. You may also need to consider borrowing/hiring a hood\, some gloves and sea fins. We suggest you speak to members of the club or the Equipment Officer to make arrangements to hire your drysuit. DESCRIPTION:GOOD FRIDAY EASTER EGG HUNT – 29TH March2024 \nWe will be running the Egg Hunt as per our Sub C Divers tradition on Good Friday! We have missed a couple of years due to Covid – but we are back! We also welcome our friends from Bury club too! \nThe day starts when Capernwray opens at 10 am – we will be doing the underwater egg hunt\, depths suitable for all qualified divers\,  and we also have an above water egg hunt and games for the children. Non-divers and family are very welcome. \nStandard Capernray entry price for Divers apply.\nNon divers are free to enter Capernwray. \nAs usual we will have soup\, hot dogs\, hot pot (veggie option available)\, apple pie and hot drinks – all included for the price of £6 for adults and £2.50 for children (aged 13 – 18\, younger children are free) \nThere will be prizes for egg hunt winners and bonus eggs for all\, also a raffle too – donations of any unwanted Christmas gifts will be great – we will find them a lovely new home!!! \nI hope you will all support the day\, if you do not already have Easter bank holiday plans\, we are usually lucky with the weather – we have previously had some lovely sunny Spring days …. so fingers crossed xxx \nPlease sign up with total numbers (including reduced price children) for the event on the website – I will be looking to collect money at the beginning of March\, so I can confirm numbers and pay up front for the food and shopping.

DESCRIPTION:Stoney Cove Website: Home – Dive & Swim Stoney Cove \nQualification Requirements: Sports Diver upwards \nStoney Cove has three areas for diving at 7m\, 22m and 36m\, it is therefore an excellent location for those wanting to progress depth in their Sports Diver qualification. Many go to dive the Hydrobox\, which takes you to the 36m limit\, however the 22m shelf also has some good dives including the Stanegarth\, an old tug boat built in 1910\, and the largest shipwreck in any of the inland dive sites. \nThe upper cark park is close to the water where there is a small slipway for shore entry\, and a long walkway for stride entry. There are changing facilities near the water and Nemos Café\, which provides hot food and drinks\, (if you want a shower\, bring 20p pieces). DESCRIPTION:Hi All. \nThe weather for the up coming rib dives is still very bad.With winds pushing Force 7\,8 and 9.So \,I’m cancelling that trip….However\,I am putting on the above\,Stoney Cove.Ive not been for a while and thought it would be good to re visit. \nDetails as follows…it has a max depth of 35M\, and I have been asked to do some depth progression.There are lots of things to dive there\,it’s a great place. \nTo go\, you MUST log onto Stoney cove site and create a diver log account.Then that will let you book a date that you want to dive.Cost is £27 or there is a scheme by paying a 2 year membership \,then it is £20..Travel time is approx 2 hrs.We will need to see who books on before confirming who is doing what.The dive attractions are great\,along with facilities there.I can recommend diving the bus and the Stangarth.You will see\, these are listed at 22M\,infact they all stand proud of the floor\, so infact shallower.. \nIf you’d like to go\, create your diver log account at Stoney\,BUT DO NOT PAY ….YET……Then book onto our club event…..we will discuss or sort out who is going then before paying on….( I just want to make sure there is enough qualification/ experienced divers there).Suitable for sport diver onwards…NB…As I say only with sufficient experienced diver/ buddies

SUMMARY:Largs Trip (Scotland)
DESCRIPTION:A stunning seaside town on the Clyde coast\nDiving Trip to Largs\, Scotland.\nType of Diving: RHIB and Shore Diving\nVenue: Largs Marina\, Irvine Rd\, Largs KA30 8EZ. (Boat will be moored at the marina – no need to keep recovering and relaunching)\nWhen: 24th August till 29th Aug (The RHIB is booked out – but the stay can be extended if you file a further RHIB application and have qualifications / DO Approval)\nAccommodation: whilst it’s a bank holiday in England\, it is not a bank holiday is Scotland. there are plenty of places to stay in Largs or Cumbrae. although if your staying on Cumbrae the ferry stops running around 9pm (I RECALL) \nLive webcam views of marina: https://www.yachthavens.com/largs-yacht-haven/at-the-marina/webcams \nDiving Qualifications: Discovery diver upwards.\nOther requirements: Current Filed Medical\, Current BSAC membership and Current Branch Membership.\nOther opportunities: Boat handling\, Snorkelling\, Paddle boarding\, Kayaking\, Wild swimming.\nAir fills:  Little logistics – we normally send one or two vehicles a few miles down the road and get a group of cylinders filled. (£10.00 per fill last year)\nthey has the market as no one else offers this service.\nCost: Boat Users the branch fee is £10.00 per day plus a share of the fuel. The marina charges £3.60 /m overnight. the cost of the logistics getting the boat to and from Largs will be shared between boat users. \nThis event has no dedicated Diver training but qualification dives / experience still applies. \nVoluteers: Anyone want to tow the boat please speak to Michelle \nAccommodation: Whilst England has a bank holiday\, Scotland does not. therefore plenty of accomodation is available in Largs and Cumbrae. Be mindful – if you stay on Cumbrae the ferry stops running around 9pm.. \nOnce we are at Largs we can also explore the Isle of Cumbrae –  why not take the 15 minute ferry to the Isle of Cumbrae. The pretty island is a great place plus it’s home to the Crocodile Rock and the ‘Cathedral of the Isles’; the smallest cathedral in Scotland. We have previously dived one of the Piers in Cumbrae which boast plenty of marine life. \n  \n \nThe Isle of Cumbrae\, also known as Great Cumbrae\, lies on the Ayrshire coast and is roughly four miles long and two miles wide. Just a short ferry trip from Largs\, Cumbrae is regarded as Scotland’s most accessible island.\n \n \nSeaside town\nThe only settlement is Millport\, a seaside town with a Victorian promenade which curves around an attractive hilly bay on the south coast. Millport is home to Britain’s smallest cathedral\, the Cathedral of the Isles\, which was completed in 1851 to a design by William Butterfield\, one of the leading Gothic revival architects of the day. \nDirections By Land\n\nLargs Yacht Haven\, Irvine Road\, Largs\, Ayrshire\, KA30 8EZ \nw3w: ///appear.vowel.dodges \nLargs is well connected by road\, rail and air links. DESCRIPTION:We are holding an Sports Diver open water training session. \nLocation: Capernwray Dive Centre. (Jackdaw Quarry) \nRequirements: \nYou will need to have completed a Medical form and handed it to our Branch Diving Officer. If you have not filed a medical it will result in your instructor not allowing you to dive on the day. \nYou will need Current BSAC membership. \nYou will also need to join the Capernwray dive centre. There is now a fee of £30 fee for a 2-year membership\, you will need to register online and choose the 2-year diving option\, beyond this Capernwray will charge £15.00 each time you visit\, this fee pays for parking\, and the use of facilities (W.C\, showers\, cafe facilities\, and use of the actual quarry). you can bring a packed lunch and drinks. Air fills are also available for £5.00 per fill. \nYou will need your regular SCUBA gear and if you do not own a DRY SUIT\, you will either need to purchase or borrow one or you can hire them from either Capernwray Dive Centre or Bolton Area Divers. You will also need to Consider borrowing / Hiring a Hood\, some gloves & Sea Fins.                               We suggest you speak to members of the club or the Equipment Officer but you will need to telephone either of these places below no less than a week prior to make arrangements to hire your Drysuit. \nBolton Area Divers 01204 394441 www.boltonareadivers.co.uk (BAD will also ask for an authorising email from the branch DO before they will allow you to Hire a Drysuit) \nor \nCapernwray   01524 735132    www.dive-site.co.uk  If you are hiring from Caperwray we suggest you arrive at opening time or sooner to speed up the process of collecting your membership card\, then your dry suit\, and the extra weight you will need (although we normally have spare weights) \nIt is paramount that you book this event via the club website so that we know who is attending. \nOnly when you have booked this event on the branch website can we allocate an instructor to you.
